Dr. Michael Pitney
Michael spent his early childhood in Melbourne before the family move to Byron Bay in the mid ‘60’s. Between surfing, fishing and playing in a band, he managed to do some schooling at Mullumbimby High School. Medical School at Queensland Uni followed, graduating in 1973. Michael was an intern at several Brisbane hospitals before joining a general practice where he worked until returning to hospital practice in 1980, ultimately becoming a Dermatology Fellow in 1987.
Michael serviced a number of areas of dermatology need in Brisbane and the Gold Coast before establishing our Toowong practice in 1993, with a dedication to delivering prompt, caring, effective solutions to the widest range of dermatological medical conditions. He established a highly regarded phototherapy unit and introduced UVA1 phototherapy to Queensland to great benefit of many patients. Michael has had an active role in The Australasian College of Dermatologists, teaching trainee dermatologists, as a member of the College Board for 5 years and as long standing chairman of the College Continuing Professional Development Programme.
When not attending to patients needs Michael can be found with a flyfishing rod, a watercolour paint brush or a garden fork in his hands.
